Truck Night at Yankee Lake

2008 Season

About Us

The original Truck Night at Yankee Lake is now in its 5th season with sponsor Miller Lite. Truck Night at Yankee Lake is owned by Penn Ohio Promotions, Inc. and is operated by individuals with over 75 years of experience in the entertainment, trucking, excavation, and monster truck industries. The event takes place in the bed of a drained 55 acre manmade lake that was established in the 1920’s by the Jurko family, which has owned and operated successful businesses on the property for over 80 years.
Truck Night is conveniently located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh on State Route 7 in Brookfield, Ohio just minutes from Interstates 80 and 11. Taking place every Friday evening, May through Labor Day with special events throughout the season, Truck Night at Yankee Lake has an average attendance of 3,500 spectators that are entertained by over 300 trucks and jeeps participating in events that range from show and shine contests, mud pits, truck tug-of-wars, rock crawls, swamp tracks, log climbs, mud bogs, mud drags, a 3 mile off-road trail and an obstacle course.
Truck Night at Yankee Lake hosts several entertainment acts including monster truck demonstrations, truck and tractor pulls, the Miss Truck Night contest, tug-o-war competitions, fireworks, etc.  The event’s additional attractions include national vendors such as Hillbilly Brand clothes and accessories, live tapings of Trucks Gone Wild, weddings in the Git-R-Done chapel, bull riding, rock climbing and bungee jumping as well as games, concessions, and a live celebrity disc jockey from one of the various regional radio stations.
Spectators and participants travel from over a 100 mile radius from states including Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia to attend Truck Night on a weekly basis.  During special events participants come from as far away as Indiana, Illinois, Canada, and New York. Visitors have come from as far as Arizona, Florida, California, Hawaii, England, South Africa, and Australia.  Participants trailer their trucks and jeeps in every week to enjoy the 4x4 enthusiasts’ ultimate playground and try to win money in our famous ‘Deep Mud Pit,’ which has climbed in prize value to as much as $1,500.
Truck Night is a family oriented event that focuses its attention on attracting families and entertaining children in a safe and fun environment.  Every precaution was taken to meet the requirements of both the EPA and the national insurance underwriter for care of the environment and the safety of both the spectators and participants. Local law enforcement is on hand to monitor the crowd, and insure the safety of all involved.
Yankee Lake has been the home to many successful events over the years including record hops and dances in its 20,000 square foot ballroom with acts ranging from Glen Miller and Cab Calloway, to Ike and Tina Turner and Marvin Gaye, to concerts with crowds of over 10,000 for national recording acts such as ZZ Top and Willie Nelson, and David Allan Coe.  For more on the history of Yankee Lake, visit www.yankeelakehistory.com.   The current site of Truck Night has been a successful swimming hole as well as a motocross race track, and has now evolved into the popular truck event that keeps spectators and participants coming back for more every week.
